After more than a century of athletic support, U.S. Ski & Snowboard is expanding into additional phases of commitment to its athletes. Guided by the organization’s vision, mission and strategic goals, U.S. Ski & Snowboard is dedicated to developing the whole athlete and is rapidly building programs that focus on the complete development of its competitors to support not just their athletic careers, but also their educational and professional endeavors off the slopes.

The Marolt Athlete Endowment (MAE) campaign is a $50 million fundraising initiative in support of U.S. Ski & Snowboard’s athletes and their most pressing needs in the areas of athletic development, education and career and life skills services. The campaign consists of establishing four endowed funds:

  • Bob Beattie Travel Fund: Provides needs-based grant support for B, C and D team athletes and their travel expenses
  • Elite Coaching Fund: Provides competitive salaries and continuing education opportunities for elite coaches, and ensures ongoing support
  • Borgen Swartz Education Fund: Provides college tuition reimbursement of up to $6,000 annually for current and retired athletes
  • Career & Life Skills Fund: Provides funds to support athletes through career development and life skills services/workshops, including: networking and mentoring; internship and employment guidance; public speaking and presentation training; job search, resume and interview guidance; financial education; and transition support

Within the Elite Coaching Fund, U.S. Ski & Snowboard has created an endowed coaching chair position in honor of longtime trustee and supporter, Thomas Weisel. The Thomas Weisel Head Alpine Coach Endowment was generously funded and created by several of Mr. Weisel’s friends to commemorate his contributions to the sport. Mr. Weisel has been Board of Trustees member for over 40 years, and his passion, enthusiasm and generosity have made an enormous and lasting impact on U.S. Ski & Snowboard’s athletes and on the organization itself.
